Amy Winehouse - Winehouses Mother Predicts Her Resurrection

AMY WINEHOUSE's mother is confident her daughter will one day resurrect her flagging career - and defy critics who claim the troubled star is heading for an early grave.

Janis Winehouse, 53, believes her daughter's craving for "constant drama" led to her drug addiction.

But she is convinced the Rehab hitmaker will eventually overcome her problems to make a triumphant career comeback.

She tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "I don't think she's totally lost control. She's a girl who lives on the edge; she toys with it. But she has an awareness of it, too - and that will save her in the end.

"Maybe it's because I'm her mother, but I think Amy will have a resurrection, and everyone will say: 'I thought she was going to kill herself - but here she is.'"

Madonna Officially Adopts David Banda

Madonna has finally won her drawn-out battle to adopt David Banda, after a Malawian judge approved her application to make the African toddler her son.

The ruling at Malawi's High Court on Wednesday has put an end to a 20-month-long saga which began in October 2006, when Madonna and her director husband Guy Ritchie brought Banda back to the U.K. from a Malawian orphanage. At the time, the tot was just 13 months old.

And the couple is delighted with the happy news.

Madonna's lawyer Alan Chinula says: "We are very happy with what the judge has ruled. It is a positive and beautiful judgment that will have an impact on Malawi's adoption laws.

"Finally the court has granted Madonna full adoption rights of the boy - it's a long judgement but I am quite happy with it."

Madonna's adoption of Banda has been highly controversial, attracting accusations the impoverished nation's government had bypassed laws that ban non-residents from adopting children in Malawi.

Scarlett Johansson - Johansson Im No Harlot

Hollywood actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON has lambasted critics who like to label her a "harlot" just because her appearance fits the stereotype.

The blonde bombshell, who has been likened to late screen siren Marilyn Monroe, thinks the fact she is curvy and has platinum locks lays her open to harsh criticism regarding her sexual morals.

But the Lost In Translation star insists she doesn't sleep around or have any sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

She says, "I have platinum blonde hair, and I'm extremely curvy: I pour myself into a dress and show up and strut my stuff at premieres.

"Of course I expect people will have certain ideas but it's weird if people associate the fact that I sell handbags or wear a bikini with who I am when I wake up in the morning.

"People think I'm going to be some brazen harlot, but I'm not out there with every Tom, Dick and Harry or catching hepatitis."

Blockbuster Now Black And Blue

Although Blockbuster's decision to raise rental prices was expected to redound to the benefit of rival online renter NetFlix, the move apparently resulted in lifting it into the black. The struggling video rental company on Thursday reported first-quarter revenue of $45.4 million versus a loss of $49 million for the comparable quarter a year ago. The company also was helped by cutting its advertising expenditures and closing 412 unprofitable or marginally profitable outlets.
